Traits:

  • found in Europe, Asia;
  • very hardy perennial plant, habitat in swamps, river and lake shores, edges of woods or in zones with moisture;
  • blooms from late spring until frost;
  • flowers have a light pink color;
  • extremely invasive through underground runners;
  • readily hybridizes with other mint species;
  • parent of: Mentha canadensis(North American Corn mint, Japanese mint);
Chemotype: very diverse, starting with the linalool found in cultivar "variegated Ginger", continuing with the banana smell of cultivar "Banana", and ending with the numerous terpenes present in wild plants, with oils that smell floral, citrussy, etc.
